2 more Mainers have died and another 1,367 coronavirus cases reported across the state

Two more Mainers have died and another 1,367 coronavirus cases reported across the state, Maine health officials said Friday.

Friday’s report brings the total number of coronavirus cases in Maine to 165,691, according to the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention. That’s up from 164,324 on Thursday. 

Of those, 121,433 have been confirmed positive, while 44,258 were classified as “probable cases,” the Maine CDC reported.

The statewide death toll stands at 1,693.

The most cases have been detected in Mainers younger than 20, while Mainers over 80 years old account for the largest portion of deaths. More cases have been recorded in women and more deaths in men.

So far, 3,775 Mainers have been hospitalized at some point with COVID-19, the illness caused by the new coronavirus. Information about those who are currently hospitalized wasn’t immediately available.

Cases have been reported in Androscoggin (16,906), Aroostook (8,008), Cumberland (33,207), Franklin (4,217), Hancock (4,907), Kennebec (16,064), Knox (3,873), Lincoln (3,456), Oxford (8,375), Penobscot (19,088), Piscataquis (2,147), Sagadahoc (4,139), Somerset (7,124), Waldo (4,139), Washington (3,000) and York (27,785) counties. Information about where an additional two cases were reported wasn’t immediately available.

As of Friday morning, the coronavirus had sickened 69,309,309 people in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands and the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as caused 860,248 deaths, according to the Johns Hopkins University of Medicine.
