Foxcroft boys swimming finishes ninth at PVC championship

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Foxcroft Academy boys swim team members swam in the home pool at the Piscataquis Regional YMCA with times compiled along with those from other schools across the region via a virtual meet to determine the 2021 Penobscot Valley Conference championship.

The Ponies earned a score of 39 points to place ninth among a field of 11 schools. Foxcroft was ahead of the 36 points for Brewer High School and three for Orono High School.

Sam Gidman and Triston Green had the two highest finishes for the Ponies as the pair was fifth and sixth in the 100 backstroke with respective times of 1 minute, 8.35 seconds and 1:10.33. 

The two also swam on the ninth-place 200 medley relay team as Green, Hunter Kemp, Gidman and Jesse Drury combined for a time of 2:10.35. The Foxcroft 200 freestyle relay, comprised of Kemp, Jorgen Halverson, Elias Hohneck and Drury, also placed ninth with a time of 2:02.01.

Green added an 11th place swim in the 100 freestyle at 1:04.21. Kemp came in 12th in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.61 seconds. Gidman was 12th in the 100 butterfly at 1:10.45.
