Premium Choice Broadband expands services

GREENVILLE — Since 2007, Bangor-based Premium Choice Broadband, a member of the Varney family of companies, has worked tirelessly to extend state-of-the-art internet access to rural Maine. CEO Bill Varney has always had a soft spot for beautiful Piscataquis County. When PCB purchased Moosehead Cable in 2016, he not only brought the fiber optic network to  the area, but also provided free Wi-Fi in Greenville Junction for visitors and townspeople alike.

With their expansion from the Covered Bridge in Guilford into Greenville and Greenville Junction now virtually complete, the company is planning to enlarge the fiber-optic network in the area.

According to EJ Richardson, who owned Mooshead Cable and now works with PCB, “We have a pre-construction committal for the Lower Wilson Pond area.” He notes that they were also in early planning stages for fiber hookup in other areas. “We are in the planning stages of fiber optics for Rum Ridge and Harford’s Point,” he said. “Most customers who have cable can get fiber optics.”

Richardson added that they are also communicating with Somerset County officials regarding the possibilities of hooking up Jackman and Rockwood. Premium Choice Broadband has moved its offices in Greenville to 126 East Road up by the airport. To learn more call 207-735-2611. You can also access them online at www.premiumchoicebroadband.com.
