Free Fishing License Week Feb. 13-21

Interested in trying ice fishing for the first time? Has it been a while since you have set a trap?

Free Fishing License Week, Feb. 13-21 was created to give everyone a chance to enjoy ice fishing. On these days, any person (except those whose license has been suspended or revoked) who registers with the Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife may fish without a license. All other laws and regulations apply on these days. Nonresidents and residents may participate.

If you plan to participate in the Free Fishing License Week you must register online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/freefishinglicenseweek. Ages 15 and younger do not need to register.

Interested in learning how to ice fish or what gear you may need? Check out the new Beginner’s Guide to Ice Fishing in Maine at https://www.maine.gov/ifw/fishing-boating/fishing/fishing-resources/ice-fishing-guide.html.

We hope you have a memorable day on the ice! After you go, share your photos with us on Facebook and Instagram for a chance to win an L.L. Bean gift card and MDIFW swag (details can be found on the Department’s Instagram and Facebook pages).
