Let’s support our schools

To the Editor;

We have recently been reading and hearing of the difficult and complicated work being done by our school administrators, faculty and custodians to make it possible to open our schools as safely as possible. This should be applauded. However, we should also realize that we all must support this effort by our own behavior.

If the prevalence of COVID-19 remains low in our community, then schools will likely stay open in some form. However, if the virus spreads in our communities, and students or teachers get sick, then schools will be forced to close again.

So, let’s support our schools: keep our distance, wear masks when appropriate, wash our hands frequently and avoid large groups, especially indoors. We owe it to our teachers and students.
