Brownville Elementary hosts Winter Carnival

BROWNVILLE — On Monday, Jan. 27, Brownville Elementary held a Winter Carnival as part of the last week of activities for the WinterKids Winter Games competition.

Students were able to attend six sessions. The school hosted Mark Spaulding, an engineer from JSI, to teach about 3D printing and CAD for their fixtures. Retired Principal Lynn Weston taught students about the water cycle and demonstrated what happens during the process. Retired teacher Lynn Gerrish helped students to discover which place on earth has the most snowfall totals.

A TURN AT THE CONTROLS — Grade 5-6 social studies teacher Deb Page and Gary Page demonstrated their robots and grade 5 students from Penquis Valley Middle School came with them to let Brownville Elementary pupils have an opportunity to operate the robots during the Jan. 27 Winter Carnival during WinterKids Winter Games competition.

Grade 5-6 social studies teacher Deb Page and Gary Page demonstrated their robots and grade 5 students from Penquis Valley Middle School came with them to let children have an opportunity to operate the robots. Students also were active outdoors with a sliding station and a snowshoeing station which took them through the trails behind the school.

It was a great learning experience for all and Brownville Elementary officials thank the presenters who came to share with the students.
