Senate Republicans endorse Sen. Davis for reelection

AUGUSTA — Maine Senate Republicans have given their full support to Sen. Paul Davis, R-Sangerville for reelection.

Senate Republican leader Dana Dow, R-Waldoboro said, “Over his career, Sen. Davis has established himself as a leader in the Maine Senate. As a legislator, he has been a tireless advocate for fiscal responsibility in government, a defender of personal freedoms and a relentless supporter of the people of Piscataquis, Somerset and Penobscot counties.”

Assistant Senate Republican leader Jeff Timberlake, R-Turner said, “I can’t think of anyone who has represented the people of his district better than Paul Davis. With his record of public service and his record in state government he has set an example for us all.”

Davis currently serves as a member of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee, the State and Local Government Committee and the Government Oversight Committee. Previously, he served as Chair of the Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee and as a member of the Taxation Committee.

Davis spent 23 years as a Maine state trooper, serving primarily in Piscataquis County. He also served six years in the Army National Guard. A member of the Sportsman’s Alliance of Maine Board of Directors and the Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis Club, he is an avid hunter, fisherman and snowmobiler.

He is also an avid auctioneer, donating his services to non-profit groups for fundraising purposes. Over many years Davis has done hundreds of these auctions raising thousands of dollars for service and charitable groups.

Davis and his wife, Patricia, recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They have two children and four grandchildren.

Senate District 4 is made up of all the towns in Piscataquis County as well as the towns of Alton, Bradford, Charleston, Dexter, Garland, LaGrange, Athens, Brighton Plantation, Cambridge, Detroit, Harmony, Hartland, Palmyra, Ripley and St. Albans.
