U.S. Sens. Collins, King announce $635K for Sebasticook Family Doctors
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine and Angus King, I-Maine announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded $635,688 in funding to Sebasticook Family Doctors and another $1,492,719 to Greater Portland Health.
“Access to quality, affordable health care is crucial to the well-being of Maine communities,” said U.S. Sens. Collins and King in a joint statement. “This important funding will help Greater Portland Health and Sebasticook Family Doctors continue to provide cost-effective primary and preventive care that is critical to many Mainers in Cumberland and Piscataquis counties.”
This funding was awarded through the Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Health Center Cluster Program at HHS, which is tasked with improving access to health care by building healthy communities, strengthening the health care workforce and achieving health equity. HRSA’s programs target the economic and medically vulnerable as well as the geographically isolated.
