Winter backyard poultry workshop

DOVER-FOXCROFT — University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Piscataquis County is holding a free winter care workshop for small-scale poultry producers. The program will be offered twice on Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and then from 6–8:30 p.m. at the UMaine Extension office, 165 East Main Street.

Workshop topics will include poultry breeds, housing, health and nutrition, demonstrations of various waterers and lighting options and ideas for do-it-yourself poultry equipment. Extension educator Donna Coffin and Extension livestock specialist Colt Knight will lead the workshop.
