Foxcroft Academy open house/post grad fair Sept. 4
DOVER-FOXCROFT — On Wednesday, Sept. 4 Foxcroft Academy will host its annual fall open house, a chance for all students and their families to see the school and get to know their teachers. In conjunction with the night, counseling services will host the fourth annual postgraduate fair (for grades 9-12) and a senior information session to follow for students and their parents/guardians. The purpose of the evening is to get everyone on the same page with postgraduate planning and to provide a chance to get needed college, military and employment information to students.
“It’s imperative that our parents and students, grades 9-12, have questions answered from people in the know,” said Kandi Martin, school counselor at Foxcroft Academy. “We have 29 colleges with confirmed attendance this year in addition to the Finance Authority of Maine, all branches of the military and at least four major employment companies from the area. Each year the event has grown and the response from the community has been fabulous. We want our students to get information early on and to be in the know.”
Here is the schedule for the evening:
5:30-6:45 p.m. – postgraduate fair for all students, grades 9-12, located in the gymnasium featuring Maine colleges, multiple branches of the armed services and several local employers looking to hire recent graduates. Booths will be set up and ready for students and parents to stop and ask specific questions about applications, programs, etc. Families can mingle between the open house and the postgraduate fair.
6-7 p.m. (running concurrently with post graduate fair) – open house for all families, grades 9-12. Come and meet the faculty and staff. Find out about grading, curriculum, expectations and more.
7-8 p.m. – college information session for seniors and parents/guardians of the Class of 2020 located in the gymnasium.Counselors will be discussing college applications, essays, deadlines, financial aid applications, scholarships, required forms and more. This is a time for parents and students to ask specific questions about the application process. This event is highly recommended to parents and guardians of college-bound seniors.
