Dover-Foxcroft women’s club news

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The General Federation of Women’s Clubs (GFWC)/Miosac Club recently met for the annual meeting as members brought their dinners and visited while eating.

President Suzanne Raymond called the meeting to order. Betsey Ryan led the Club Collect, Americans Creed and Pledge of Allegiance.

Secretary Diane Leighton took roll call with 12 members responding by naming a country they would like to visit — many named Ireland. She then read the minutes of the last meeting with no corrections

Corresponding Secretary Roxy McGlauflin read the following thank you notes: Martha not attending birthday dinner, food cupboard for donations, Jane Bly for club members’ interest in the art show and Pam Pultz for asking her to speak at club.

Treasurer Pat Jones reported the balance and monies spent.

Anne Cress reported that $340 was collected for the Sebec Lake Ice Out Contest. Larry Milner was the winner.

Minnie McCormick reported on the wonderful pinwheel garden. It was greatly admired and many compliments were received.

Cress gave a report of spring convention. Four GFWC/Miosac Club members attended. The club received seven awards including best scrapbook for clubs with 25 or less members. The club has received this award for several years thanks to Vicki Moschella’s hard work.

Under unfinished business, the community dinner was discussed with Dave Leighton preparing the meal and members doing desserts. This will be Monday June 3 at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church — all are welcome.

The community calendar fundraiser was explained and members received businesses to contact.

Jones talked about the Marion Doore Park and asked members to sign up to water the flowers during the summer.

Members enjoyed a break to participate in the delicious refreshments prepared by Ryan and McGlauflin.

The annual meeting followed with committees reporting activities for the year.
