
Foxcroft Academy announces Ireland and Huang as valedictorian and salutatorian
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Foxcroft Academy will hold the 2019 commencement exercises on Sunday, June 9 at 1:30 p.m. A baccalaureate ceremony will be held before graduation at noon. Both ceremonies are planned to be outside on the East Lawn of Foxcroft Academy, with the gymnasium ready in case of inclement weather.
Foxcroft Academy is also pleased to announce the speakers for graduation. The valedictorian for the Class of 2019 is Spencer Ireland. Spencer is the son of Daniel Ireland of Charleston and Bridgett Ireland of Dover-Foxcroft. Spencer has been a gifted member of the Pony Herd excelling in many areas. He was co-captain of the math team, manager of the soccer team and a member of the track and unified basketball teams. He is senior class president, treasurer for the Student Council, and a member of Key Club and National Honor Society. In the fall Spencer will attend Boston University in the College of Arts & Sciences, majoring in Astronomy.
The Salutatorian for the Class of 2019 is Keying “Chloe” Huang. Chloe is a member of the FA boarding program. She grew up in Fuzhou, Fujian, China and came to Dover-Foxcroft in 2016. Chloe has been involved in several academic clubs at including Key Club and National Honor Society. She was the co-captain of the Eastern Maine championship math team, in addition to being a member of the cheer squad. In the fall she will attend the University of Minnesota Twin Cities in Minneapolis.
Other graduation speakers include Ryan Nickerson, who was selected by the senior class as the faculty speaker. Nickerson is the chair of the Math Department and head coach of the FA track and field team. The guest speaker is Bill Green, host of “Bill Green’s Maine” and longtime sports reporter for News Center Maine.
This year’s class marshals are Ethan Curtis and Steffi Victoria from the Class of 2020.
