DOVER-FOXCROFT — On Dec. 2 a dozen locals braved icy conditions to attend an informational meeting about the Citizens’ Climate Lobby. Organizer Laurie Sproul explained the group’s mission to “put a price on carbon.” She described her most recent lobbying trip to Washington, D.C., and announced that a bipartisan bill has been sponsored in the House of Representatives.
Rep. Norm Higgins, I-Dover-Foxcroft described the progress of recent bills in Augusta, as well as a solar project underway in Milo. Local businessman Tyler Adkins commented on the viability of alternative energy, but described some logistical hurdles that still remain. Others shared enthusiasm for an economic solution to climate issues, or raised concerns for climate issues and their impact on rural Maine.
