Hazel E Richards October 31, 1937 – September 14, 2018 Hazel E Richards, 80 went to be with the Lord September 14, 2018 in Dover-Foxcroft. She is now reunited with the love of her life, Roger. She was born October 31, 1937 at the family farm in Monson, to Ernest and Eleanor Degerstrom. She grew up in Monson and attended school there. She started working in Rockwood in 1954 and it was there that she met Roger on a blind date. They were married for 63 years and raised 8 children. She was a very hard worker, a stay at home Mom until most of the children were grown. She is to be commended for raising 8 children much of the time on her own as Roger worked long, hard hours to support the family. She was a woman of great faith, sharing her beliefs with many. She rarely missed the opportunity to attend church or Bible studies.
She is survived by her daughter Joan Hall and her children Daniel, Robin, Sandy, Jade, Jasmine. Daughter Peggy-Gene Roy and children Sarah, Joey, Rachel, Alyssa, Caleb, and Ben. Daughter MaryPaul Webster and children Ben, Julia and Jacob. Son Roger-Naomi and children Joshua, Roger Joe, Rebekah, Caleb, David, Abraham and Christianna. Daughter Sheri-Brian Mulherin and children Nikki, Nathan and Kerrie. Son Dana-Susan and children Dana Junior and Daniel. Daughter Tori-Tim Brown and children Christina, Heather, Jacob, Logan and Sam. Daughter Jeanie-Don Smith and children Matthew, Mark, Renee and Michelle. She is also survived by 30 great grandchildren, her twin sister Helen Degerstrom-Lunt, sister in law Rita Mattson, she was survived by her sister in law Fern, who passed away 9/25, and is survived by her brother in law Frank Moulton and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Roger, her parents, brothers Adolf and Phillip and sisters Gloria, Peggy and Betty.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hibbard Nursing home as well as Beacon Hospice for their care of our mother.
A celebration of her life will be held at the Church of the Open Bible, Greenville Maine on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 2 p.m., with her son, Pastor Roger A. Richards Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Shirley Cemetery following the service.
