Missing East Millinocket woman found safe in northern Piscataquis County

A 52-year-old East Millinocket woman was found safe several hours after she was reported missing.

On the afternoon of Monday, Sept. 17 Maine game wardens located Nancy Michaud with her 2012 Nissan Sentra stuck along a remote dirt road near Hurd Pond approximately 40 miles northwest of Baxter State Park in northern Piscataquis County. Michaud was somewhat dehydrated but otherwise in good health. Game wardens then escorted Michaud back to Millinocket.

On Monday morning game wardens asked the public’s help regarding Michaud’s location. She reportedly intended to hike the Mt. Katahdin/Jo Mary region on Sunday. She had driven through the Caribou North Maine Woods gate on Sept. 16.

The Maine Warden wishes to thank all those who helped look for Michaud and got the word out about her disappearance.
