Expert handiwork to be featured at Greenville quilt show
GREENVILLE — On Saturday, Sept. 1 the Moosehead Quilters will present the “Quilts in the Woods” quilt show from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Union Evangelical Church (at the blinking light) in Greenville.
There will be a large variety of quilts on display representing new techniques as well as the old favorites with traditional designs. Also the Moosehead Hookers (what a great name!), a popular local rug-hooking group, will present a fiber arts exhibit. Vintage sewing machines and other sewing artifacts will be on display, and a White Elephant Table will have all sorts of treasures for you to check out.
Best of all, you can find an intricately assembled and sewn quilt that you can win through their annual raffle. The raffle tickets will be available at the door the day of the show. Advance tickets can be purchased at the Crazy Moose Quilt Shop on Pritham Ave. in downtown Greenville, where the quilt to be raffled is being displayed during the week prior to the show.

Mary Pawluk, who has been involved with planning the show, said that a basket filled with donations from local businesses would be raffled off. “We are really looking forward to doing this,” she said. “And, we are grateful to all the businesses who contributed.”
Also on the day of the show there will also be a door prize drawing at 3 p.m. If the winner is unable to be there at that time they may pick up door prize tickets at the Crazy Moose. Drawing for the raffle quilt will be at 3 p.m. as well – one need not be present to win, as the Crazy Moose will hold the quilt until you are able to pick it up.
The Union Evangelical Church is the perfect venue for these beautiful quilts – the warmth of the wood in the interior complements the bright, beautiful colors in every quilt. “We will drape the quilts over the pews in the Sanctuary,” Pawluk said. ‘That way, people can really appreciate the designs and the workmanship involved.”
Write down the date and time and come to Greenville this coming Saturday – if you are a quilter, it will be inspirational, if not you’ll still be inspired by the variety and beauty of these special quilts.
