County Democrats hold annual spring brunch
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Piscataquis County Democrats and guests gathered on April 29 for the annual spring Brunch at American Legion Post 29. Over 100 people enjoyed a delicious brunch prepared by David Ziemer, Sue Mackey Andrews and numerous volunteers while listening to candidates for governor, the Second Congressional District and local candidates for the Maine House and Senate.
Secretary of State Matt Dunlap of Old Town provided the keynote message focusing on ranked choice voting which will be used in the June primary election. Secretary Dunlap graciously answered several questions from the floor.
Rusty Willette served as master of ceremonies and facilitated questions for the candidates including Adam Cote, Donna Dion, Janet Mills and Mark Dionne, all gubernatorial candidates. Carol Boothroyd spoke on behalf of Jonathan Fulford, and Lucas St. Claire addressed the assembled as well. Both are candidates for the Second Congressional District. Zak Ringelstein, candidate for the U.S. Senate, also addressed the crowd.
The program ended with remarks from Legislative House candidates Tyler Adkins and Dr. Richard Evans as well as State Senate candidate Mackey Andrews. This annual fundraiser has become a rite of spring for the community, this year raising well over $1,000 and much good will.
