Central Maine Talent Search coming to Center Theatre

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Center Theatre for the Performing Arts announced that it will be hosting the first annual Central Maine Talent Search. The event, which will offer cash and other prizes totaling close to $2,000, will consist of three preliminary events in June, July and August and a grand finale in September. Entrants must be at least 10 years old, can perform any entertaining talent either by themselves or with two other people, and cannot have been paid more than $500 to perform their talent in the past year.

Patrick Myers, executive director of the Center Theatre, said that anyone interested in competing needs to submit a short video, complete an entry form, and pay a $20 entry fee. “We’re excited to showcase some of the great talent we have in the area,” he said. “We’re looking for 18 performers to perform at the the three preliminary events from which 6 finalists will be chosen for the grand finale.”

Myers said the two acts in the preliminaries will win cash prizes and the grand prize will be $500 cash and the winner’s choice of a professional recording session, solo show at the Center Theatre, or professionally produced video. The Center Theatre is a non-profit organization dedicated to making the arts a part of life in the Maine Highlands by offering affordable arts, culture entertainment and education.
