RSU 68 free summer meal program returns to D-F

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The free summer meal program is up and running at the SeDoMoCha School for the fifth summer. It began the day after school got out and had its official kickoff on June 23.

Katy Gregory, the summer meal provider, said, “I am quite pleased with the number of children participating. We have seen between 30-40 children on a daily basis and there were 79 children for the kickoff last week.”

Any child under the age of 18 may eat for free, it is not necessary to be a resident of the district.

Breakfast is served between 8:30 and 9 a.m. and lunch is between 11 a.m. and noon each weekday through Aug. 18. An adult must accompany any child under the age of 8. Adults are able to eat for a small fee. The entrance has a disco dancing figure beside it, which is in the back of the school.

There are also satellite sites available elsewhere in Dover-Foxcroft. Mayo Regional Hospital is offering lunches on Mondays from 11 a.m. to noon and the Piscataquis Regional YMCA is offering lunches on Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 12:30 p.m.

RSU officials hope any child that wants to participate can find a site and enjoy a nutritious breakfast or lunch and some good conversation. More information can be found at www.sedomocha.org.
