July 4 events around the region
The Sebec Village Associates will have a day of events on the Fourth of July next week, with proceeds benefitting the Reading Room. The day on Tuesday, July 4 starts with a breakfast at the Sebec Village Community Christian Church from 7-9 a.m.
The annual five kilometer (3.1 miles) road race starts at 8 a.m., and at 10:30 a.m. will be the canoe race.
The holiday’s parade starts at 9:30 a.m. A barbecue is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and a bake sale begins at 11 a.m. Throughout the day will be children’s activities and pony rides and a table full of multiple-choice raffle prizes.
Dexter’s Independence Day events begin on Monday, July 3 with fireworks in-town at dusk (approximately 9 p.m.).
The town’s Fourth of July parade starts at 9:30 a.m. at the fire station, travel down Church Street (Route 7) to Main Street, proceed through to the Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union and then follow Lincoln Street to the conclusion at the Factory One parking lot.
In Greenville, Independence Day events begin with a craft fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Camden National Bank parking lot.
The Independence Day parade starts at 11 a.m. at the Industrial Park in the Junction, with the procession traveling to downtown Greenville. A children’s bicycle parade lines up at the Center for Moosehead History, leaving at 11:30 a.m. and concluding on Minden Street.
A Katahdin fireworks cruise begins at 7 p.m., with the aerial display set for approximately 9 p.m. to be shot off from the East Cove.
In Rockwood the Blue Ridge Rider ATV Club will host a barbecue and family fun event from 4-8 p.m. at the Gray Ghost Camps, with a lucky duck race starting at 4 p.m.. A boat parade lines up at 6:45 p.m. at the Kineo docks, an ATV parade departs from the Gray Ghost Camps at 8 p.m. to travel to the Birches where there will be public fireworks and music at 9 p.m.
