Key Club presents $3,500 in donations
DOVER-FOXCROFT — Over the past five months the Foxcroft Academy Key Club has been extremely busy raising money for different projects the membership feels passionate about. The students just finished the drive for $12,000 for the Thirst Project (in conjunction with Key Clubs in Dexter and Greenville), raising enough money to dig a well in Swaziland in southern Africa — an area of the world with little to no drinking water.
The SeDoMoCha Middle School Student Council had a big part in this as well, as the group donated $2,000 to the cause to help the Key Clubs surpass the goal.
On April 13 at a special in-school presentation, the Foxcroft Academy Key Club presented nine area groups and/or families with checks ranging from $100 to $500. In all over $3,500 was given out, raising the total that the Key Club has raised and donated to to over $19,000 this school year alone.
It is quite an accomplishment for a small group. The groups that received donations from the Key Club were all on hand for the special assembly where they received their checks. Organizations included the Center Theatre, Piscataquis Regional YMCA, Spruce Run/Womancare Alliance, Dover-Foxcroft Area Food Cupboard, JD Foundation, Nolan’s H.E.R.O Foundation, Pine Tree Hospice, Restoration Ink and the families of Foxcroft Academy Camille Bozzelli, Raven Nally and Matt Harmon.
The Key Club would like to thank the Dover-Foxcroft Kiwanis for all the leadership and support. Many Kiwanis members were present at the ceremony. The Key Club is proud to help the community it serves. Where there is a need, the club will find a way to help.
