EAST MILLINOCKET – Ivory Brown Heath, 87, born in Sherman, the son of Ivory Brown Heath and Ruth Ingalls Heath, passed away August 1, 2016.
He attended schools in Sherman. From 1951-1953, he served his country as a sergeant in the Army in the 61st Field Artillery in Korea. He did some farming but worked most of his life harvesting wood (from chain saws and horses to mechanical harvesting). He retired from Georgia Pacific in 1992. He had worked briefly for the Great Northern Paper Company in East Millinocket and for Bean and Conquest Motor Garage in Bangor. He always loved working and walking at the family farm in Sherman. He also enjoyed gardening and watching birds at the bird feeders – both summer and winter, tying fishing flies, being at the coast, and all his extended family. He had been a local elder in the Lincoln Seventh-day Adventist Church in Lincoln since 1982.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Wilcox Heath; his son, Stephen and wife, Rhoda of Stacyville; his daughter, Ellen and her husband, Alfred (Chip) VanDine of Millinocket; and daughter, Lorinda and her husband, Jeffrey of Cornville; three stepdaughters, one stepson, six grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one step-great-grandchild; a sister, Mertleen and her husband, Melvin Jones of Hartford, N.B., Canada; a brother, Paul and his wife, Donna of Vassalboro; many nieces, nephews and several cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, Michael; brothers, Ralph, Charles (Bill), Leonard, Bertrand and Jesse; and a sister, Avis Darling.
There will be a memorial service August 21, 2016, at 10:00 AM at the Lincoln Seventh-day Adventist Church, Lincoln. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the youth activities of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, P.O. Box 202, Lincoln, ME 04457.
