Center Theatre announces spring one-act festival

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Slightly Off-Center Players and the Center Theatre for the Performing Arts are seeking directors and actors interested in presenting a one-act play at the Center Theatre on March 3, 4 and 5. The one acts will be performed along with Foxcroft Academy’s one-act play directed by Derrick Buschmann. The theme of the one-acts this year is “Anything Under the Sun.”
“For the past few years we’ve had a specific theme,” Executive Director Patrick Myers said. “This year we wanted to leave it wide open for people to bring any and all ideas that they had.”
Interested directors or actors should contact Myers at the Center Theatre to discuss their ideas and sign up before Dec. 23. Myers can be reached at pmyers@centertheatre.org or by calling 564-8943.
There is no minimum length for the proposed pieces, but all must run under 30 minutes. Rehearsal schedule and production royalties will be the responsibility of the director. Rehearsals can begin as soon as the director has a cast. The theatre will be available for rehearsals depending on the existing schedule. All one-acts will begin tech rehearsals on Monday, Feb. 27.
For more information on the Center Theatre or the Slightly Off-Center Players, contact the Center Theatre at 564-8943 or visit www.centertheatre.org. The Center Theatre is a non-profit performing arts venue dedicated to making the arts a part of life in the Maine Highlands and is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2016.
