Barbara Lee Allen Weston
DADE CITY, FL – Barbara Lee Allen Weston, 79, died unexpectedly in Zephyrhills, FL, on March 7, 2016. In her life, she embraced family, multiple careers, and artistic and intellectual pursuits. Born Barbara Lee Allen, the first of five daughters and the daughter of a coal miner, she was raised in David, Kentucky.
A graduate of Prestonsburg College, she married Air Force Sergeant, Donald L. Weston in 1954, her husband of sixty-one years. She accompanied Donald as he was assigned to various posts throughout the country. After their fourth child, they retired to Dexter, ME, in 1976. Soon thereafter, Barbara began working as a bank teller for Key Bank. Barbara’s work was recognized, and she was quickly promoted to a managerial position. She was able to strike a balance between her duties at the bank and her first job, raising her children.
She was an expert in rare coins and focused on Franklin Mint coins. Barbara loved crossword puzzles and playing cards. She also enjoyed the watercolor flower paintings by Maine artist, Lynn Snow, and Kentucky painter, Russell May.
Donald and Barbara spent their winters in Dade City, FL, and their summers on Sebec Lake, ME. Both houses were often full of visiting family and friends. Generous, loving, and warmhearted, she will be dearly missed by those she left behind.
