Basic septic system installation workshop

DOVER-FOXCROFT — The Piscataquis County Soil and Water Conservation District (PCSWCD) is hosting a basic septic system installation workshop on Friday, March 4 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church.

Dave Rocque, Maine state soil scientist and private septic system design consultant, and Glenn Angell, Maine state site evaluator, will be the presenters for this workshop. Topics will include what septic system installers should know about wetland and waterbody regulations in the subsurface waste water disposal (SSWWD) rules, issues for installers, what installers should know about soils and hydrology in order to install long lasting septic systems, disposal system issues such as licensed plumbing inspectors (LPI) inspections, proprietary disposal field device issues, and installer certification and updates on SSWWD rule revisions as well as septic system failures.

This workshop is open to contractors, plumbers, LPI, private and municipal inspectors and evaluators, code enforcement officers and the public. Participating certified contractors will receive three year credit for nonpoint source (NPS) contractor re-certification from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection. Seven recertification credits (hours) will be available to certified LPIs and the Maine Department of Health and Human Services Division of Environmental Health, will grant seven contact hours for this workshop.
