Brownville-KI and Beyond Sled Dog Race results
BROWNVILLE JCT — Results from the seventh annual Maine Highlands Sled Dog Club and the town of Brownville’s Brownville-KI and Beyond Sled Dog Race, held on Jan. 30-31, are as follows:

HUSKY, BUT STILL ABLE TO RUN FAST — Musher Kasey McCarty’s team finished in third place in the 30-mile race on Saturday, covering the course in a time of 2 hours, 45 minutes and 24 seconds.
Saturday 30-mile: 1. Rico Portalatin 2 hours, 12 minutes and 10 seconds; 2. Marla Brodsky 2:36.43; 3. Kasey McCarty 2:45.24; 4. Terry Knowles 2:49.57; 5. Whatleigh Torsey 3:00.46; 6. Carol Durant 3:06.52; 7. Catherine Benson 4:02.04; and 8. Maggie Wey disqualified.
Saturday 20-mile: 1. Amy deWolski 1:34.35; 2. Kelly Berg 1:41.20; 3. Kim Berg 1:42.21; 4. Sydney Plante 1:46.13; 5. Peggy Kipp 1:48.38; 6. Tessa Kemp 2:03.51; 7. Tony Chambrello 2:06.23; 8. Jean Bollweg 2:07.18; 9. Jeff Ladd 2:11.19; and 10. Racheal Arnold 2:15.09.

OVER THE HILLS AND THROUGH THE WOODS — Whatleigh Torsey’s dogsled team rounds the first turn in the Brownville-KI and Beyond Sled Dog Race 30-mile course on Jan. 30. The weekend’s various races featured trail support from the Brownville Snowmobile Club and communications support from the Piscataquis Amateur Radio Club.
