The yearly project of collecting mittens, gloves, hats and scarves for the SeDoMoCha School was discussed. The UMW set up a tree at the United Methodist Church (UMC) and the congregation brings these items and puts them on the Christmas tree. The items were delivered in early January by Ann Weston. SeDoMoCha officials are always so happy to receive these items for students who may not have anything to wear in the cold winter months.

Susan and Pastor Mark Stevens made 10 fruit baskets for members of the church who are shut-ins, housebound, sick or cannot travel. These were delivered to homes and nursing homes and were greatly appreciated.

The mission project for the month will be a donation of $75 to the Pay-It-Forward Shop at UMC for diapers.

The UMW and UMC have pledged $1,000 to the Dover-Foxcroft Area Food Cupboard for 2016. Those involved are very proud they accomplished this in 2015 with a total donation of $1,168.

The UMC is having a Singing Service on Jan. 31 followed by a spaghetti luncheon after church in Harter Hall, also be serving garlic bread, salad and many desserts. The public is welcome to come to the service and lunch.

Pastor Stevens reported on the Dover-Foxcroft Area Food Cupboard stating that the Good Shepherd Food Truck administered to 130 people. The regular food cupboard gave out ham vouchers from Will’s Shop ‘n Save for Christmas dinner. Two new freezers were donated by Dave’s World, one is at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church where the food cupboard is located now and the other at the town hall where food is stored. The board is looking into a permanent location by looking into grants.

Club members made 135 calls or visits to the elderly in December.

Pastor Stevens installed the new UMW officers for 2016. Weston was thanked for eight years of service as the club president. The new officers are President Susan Bartley, Vice President Susan Stevens, Secretary Vicki Moschella and Treasurer Leona Dow. Nominating committee members are Barbara Clark, Sheila Schaaf, Debra Cole and Ann Weston.

UMW has five new members that started in 2015: Mary Salley, Sue Bartley, Susan Stevens, Virgie Allen and June Pequignot. Susan Stevens started the program “Allowance of Christianity” about self-denial and sacrifice.

The meeting was adjourned for cheesecake and candy provided by Moschella.
