Prescription Drug Take Back slated

DOVER-FOXCROFT — Last year a group of other nursing students at the University of Maine conducted a community assessment on the Dover-Foxcroft community and determined that drug abuse is a major health concern for this population. In an effort to decrease availability and tackle the issue of drug abuse in the community, the students will be hosting a Prescription Drug Take Back on Saturday, Nov. 14 from 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m. at Shaw’s, 1073 West Main Street.

A prescription drug take back event provides members of the community with a safe and convenient means of discarding unused or expired prescription drugs. During the event the students will provide members of the community with education on drug addiction as well as the resources available to them.

The University of Maine nursing students are partnering with the Dover-Foxcroft Police Department as well as Pat’s Pizza as the restaurant has agreed to give out coupons to every member of the community that participates in the Prescription Drug Take Back.
