In the absence of Secretary Cathie Goodine, Minnie McCormick took roll call and read the minutes of the Oct. 6 meeting. Ten members, one associate and one guest answered the roll call. Carol Kilpatrick read the treasurer’s report — which was accepted as read.
In the absence of Corresponding Secretary Roxy McGlauflin, Diane Leighton read the correspondence. Suzanne Raymond gave a report of fall conference noting that the decorated pumpkins made by Kilpatrick were very well received.
Betsey Ryan and McCormick spoke about Domestic Violence Awareness Month items they had noticed. Raymond displayed the quilt she had made for the Project Linus quilt which the club supports. The traveling basket was brought to be given to the next person on the list.
A discussion of the Kiwanis Community Christmas Project was discussed and members voted to continue its support. Donations will be turned in at the next meeting, this has been a continuing project for several years.
Goodwin spoke about things that happened the year the Miosac Club was organized. It was interesting to find those things out as most of the members were not born by 1936. Goodwin also spoke about her elder abuse awareness project, this is a project supported by all federated clubs in Maine.
The meeting was adjourned and card making for Operation Write Home began. McCormick gave directions and members proceeded to make 75 cards. She had made almost 200 and they will all be sent to USO for distribution to the troops. This falls under McCormick’s GFWC Maine Public Issues category.
Delicious warm apple crisp with ice cream was made and served by Brenda Quiet. Cress decorated the table with beautiful fall decorations.
