GFWC/Miosac Club resumes meetings
DOVER-FOXCROFT — The GFWC/Miosac Club met at Thayer Parkway Oct. 6 for a “Catching Up with Casseroles” meeting. The advisory committee, Pat Jones, Mae Johnston and MInnie McCormick, provided the casseroles, salads, bread and desserts. The tables were decorated with decorated pumpkins, cup cozies for each member, leaves and apples.
Following dinner, President Vicki Moschella called the meeting to order. Anne Cress led the Collect, American’s Creed and the Pledge of Allegiance. Cathie Goodine took roll call followed by minutes of the last meeting. Carol Kilpatrick gave the treasurer’s report noting that several business purchased flags that were erected on West Main Street for the summer. Thank yous were Parker McGlauflin for the GFWC Educational Loan Fund he received, Aaron Goodine for the GFWC/Miosac Scholarship he received, and Helping Hands with Heart for the $100 donation.
Jones reported on the Marion Doore Park. Six members helped clean it up this summer and Jones will be planting new bulbs soon.
McCormick gave the advisory report. The next meeting was scheduled for Oct. 20 with GFWC Maine President Marge Goodwin attending. Suzanne Raymond was program chair with Cress and Gooding as hostesses.
Raymond read the report of the Flag Project as a part of the Community Improvement Program. The report will be entered at the state level and go on to international — the club hopes to receive an award for the project.
Members voted to purchase a gift certificate for the basket raffles at fall conference. Members also voted to have the traveling basket as an in-house fundraiser, proceeds will go to the senior day center.
Public affairs notices were a chicken pie supper at the Dover-Foxcroft Congregational Church Saturday, Oct. 24 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Lew Dow and the Yesteryear Music Makers will present a concert at the Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church Oct. 31 at 7 p.m.
