Greenville selectmen set $16.20 mil rate

By Staff Report

GREENVILLE — The board of selectmen set a 2015-16 mil rate of $16.20 per $1,000 of valuation, during a special meeting on the afternoon of Sept. 2. This figure, which produces an overlay of $20,381, represents an increase of $1.50 from the previous year’s tax rate of $14.70 per $1,000.

The selectmen approved the 2016 mil rate by a unanimous vote, and also agreed by consensus to direct Town Manager John Simko to draft a letter of explanation for the mil rate increase to be signed by both the board and the members of the Greenville School Committee. The letter will be added to each property bill, which were scheduled to be mailed on Sept. 8.
