D-F, RSU 68 referendum results

DOVER-FOXCROFT — A little more than 200 residents took part in the June 9 referendum for the town of Dover-Foxcroft. Those voting approved all of the articles making up the 2015-16 fiscal year budget of nearly $4,239,000.

In addition to the financial articles, amendments to the shoreland zoning ordinance were approved by a count of 124 to 60 and the ordinance entitled “Town of Dover-Foxcroft Maine Ordinance to Protect Citizens of Dover-Foxcroft and Allow Billing for Certain Traffic Incidents involving Non-Residents” was enacted by a vote of 137-51.

Board of selectmen incumbents Scott Taylor and Vice Chair Cynthia Freeman Cyr were both re-elected to three-year terms. The only two candidates listed on the ballot received 164 and 145 votes respectively.

No candidates were listed on the referendum for two seats on the RSU 68 school board, but incumbent Blake Smith and Joel Pratt will be filling the positions with 22 and 21 respective write-in votes.

Barbara Austin was re-elected to a one-year term on the HAD 4 board after receiving 155 votes.

Amy Fagan-Cannon was re-elected to the Thompson Free Library executive committee with 183 votes, to fill another one-year term.

Voters across the four RSU 68 communities approved the district’s $10,121,701 2015-16 budget with 173 voting yes and 72 voting no.

Town results were Charleston 13 yes and 11 no; Dover-Foxcroft 142 yes and 49 no; Monson 11 yes and 10 no; and Sebec 7 yes and 2 no.
