The Service Excellence Committee is committed to community outreach and support. An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a portable device that checks the heart rhythm and can send an electric shock to the heart to try to restore a normal rhythm. AEDs are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). AEDs make it possible for more people to respond to a medical emergency where defibrillation is required. Purchase of the AED was made possible by the Dennis Allen Memorial Golf Tournament Fund. The fund was named in honor of Allen, who died suddenly in 2008 from a heart attack. Allen was the Chief Financial Officer at Mayo Regional Hospital for many years.
