This year’s edition of Dexter Winter Festival Feb. 13-15

    DEXTER — The town of Dexter and Wassookeag Snowmobile Club presents the 15th annual Dexter Winter Festival Friday, Feb. 13 through Sunday, Feb. 15, with family-friendly events throughout the entire weekend.
    On Friday, Feb. 13, Dexter Regional High School will participate in a snow sculpture competition with cash awards in the gymnasium at noon. Check out their artwork on the school campus.

    The Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union will host a chili and chowder sale at their Dexter office from 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Donation is per cup (to go) and all proceeds will benefit Maine Credit Unions’ Campaign for Ending Hunger.
    Saturday, Feb. 14 features a youth sliding party with radar from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. on the slope near the high school football field, hosted by Wassookeag Snowmobile Club.
    Kids use their own plastic sleds, saucers, tubes or cardboard, etc., but they must be in a seated position to compete. There is no entry fee.
    The Wassookeag Snowmobile Club on Number 10 Road will also have an open house from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
    There will be roller skating at the town hall from 2-4 p.m. and the municipal ice skating rink will be open and lit until 8 p.m. Saturday night.
    From 5-7 p.m., there will be a ham dinner by donation at the Wassookeag Snowmobile Club to benefit the Hal Wilkins Memorial Scholarship Fund. Each year scholarships are awarded from this fund to two graduating seniors of Dexter Regional High School.
    On Sunday Feb. 15, there will be an antique snowmobile ride-in starting at the Little Wassookeag Lake parking lot. Participants should meet at 9 a.m. and the ride will begin at 10 a.m.
    The route will be from the parking lot to the Wassookeag Snowmobile Clubhouse on the Number 10 Road and will continue with a loop around Big Lake Wassookeag and be at the formation of the snowmobile parade prior to 11 a.m.
    The clubhouse will also be open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
    The snowmobile parade gets underway at 11 a.m., and participants need to be at McFarland Street near the railroad bed by 10 a.m. There is no entry fee.
    Promptly at 11 a.m., the parade will proceed toward Dexter, briefly stopping behind the Dexter Fire Department to be judged
    There will be presentations of awards at the Wassookeag Snowmobile Club house at 12:30 p.m. for best antique snowmobile, youngest snowmobile operator/participant, club with most snowmobile member parade participants, best representing a business or organization, best representing an individual or family and best costume
