Appreciates lawmaker’s efforts

To the Editor:
I am grateful that Mr. Higgins is taking the concerns of his constituents to the Legislature on Internet connection. Governor LePage previously made his opinion known that while broadband Internet connection is very important for the state of Maine, especially for local businesses, he had “no comment” on how to pay for it.
The Three Ring Binder is in place already thanks to our federal dollars but bringing it to towns is up to state and local government.

Businesses are not attracted to locations with slow Internet. Living in Medford, I rely on connecting to the wifi outside the Milo library. That is the problem for Medford and I am guessing many other towns Mr. Higgins represents.
If the E/W Highway goes through, then that will really disrupt the fiber that has already been laid and that would truly be a waste of our federal dollars. If Representative Higgins would do his best to connect with other representatives on this, it might show that Maine is truly “open for business” and keeping our wildlife corridors open.
I look forward to Representative Higgins’ excellent work in this endeavor.
