Correction and clarification
In the Jan. 14 issue of the Observer, it was stated that County Commissioner Eric Ward declined to seek reelection last year and was succeeded by James White of Guilford.
Although Ward declared his intentions not to run again last summer, part of Ward’s district — including his hometown of Greenville — was combined with Commissioner Fred Trask’s district after the Maine Legislature reapportioned the county commissioners’ electoral boundaries.
So Ward would have not been able to run for reelection last year unless he faced Trask in a primary and defeated him. White was actually elected in an entirely new district.
The new county commissioners’ districts are listed at www.piscataquis.us. Click on the Commissioners link at the top of the home page.
