American-Flag-ColorPO-RaymondBishopOBDOVER-FOXCROFT – Raymond H. Bishop, 89, passed away January 5, 2015, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born May 22, 1925, in North Dexter, the son of Henry Bishop and Ethel (Hall) Thurston.
    Ray was a Korean War veteran. He owned and operated several businesses in the Dover-Foxcroft and Dexter area, including Center Theater, Montgomery Ward, Dexter Motor Lodge, Dexter Variety, several apartment houses and assisted living facilities statewide throughout Maine. He was a past president of the Maine Boarding Home Association and had served on the Governor’s Task Force for Long Term Care in Maine.
    Ray was predeceased by his beloved wife of 64-years, Kay, on November 19, 2014.
    He is survived by a son, Timothy Bishop and his wife, Lori, of Dexter; and a daughter, Lori Nelson of Dover-Foxcroft. He is also survived by a sister, Marlene Lyford of Dover-Foxcroft, as well as six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Maine Parkinson Society, 359 Perry Rd., Bangor 04401. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. Condolences and memories may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
