Minard Foss Severance

American Flag Color    Milo – Minard Foss Severance, 84, husband of the late Marlene Elizabeth (Thomas) Severance, passed away peacefully December 17, 2014, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. He was born January 1, 1930, in Milo, the son of Lyman Libby and Dorothy Minard (Foss) Severance. Minard had served with the U.S. Army in Austria during the Korean War.

    Over the years he had worked at many jobs, including road crew work in Baxter State Park, at the tanneries in Dover-Foxcroft and Howland, and as a laborer, building the Dexter Shoe Co. building in Milo.  He then worked for Dexter Shoe Co., retiring after 27 years. He spent his last years at Hibbard Nursing Home, where he will be remembered for greeting everyone at the door with a smile and a joke.
    Minard is survived by a son, Minard Ray Severance and his wife, Gloria; a daughter, Cindy Lou Severance; a brother, Wilbur Severance and his wife, Cathy; a sister-in-law, Roberta Lundin; and several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of many years, Marlene; his parents; a brother, Carl “Moe” Severance; and two sisters, Viola Mithee, and Priscilla Severance. He will be fondly remembered by his many friends at Dexter Shoe Co. and Hibbard Nursing Home.  Minard’s family wishes to thank the staff at Hibbard Nursing Home for the compassionate care they provided during his time there.
