Senators announce nominees to service academies

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Sens. Susan Collins and Angus King have announced their nominees to the U.S. military academies. Among the nominees is Lillian Costello of Milo, who attends the Maine School of Science & Mathematics in Limestone. Costello has been nominated for both the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. and the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

To be considered for an appointment to a service academy, applicants must be nominated by an authorized nominating source, which includes members of Congress. “We are proud to have the honor to nominate such an impressive group of Maine students to our nation’s distinguished service academies,” said Sens. Collins and King. “The young people we have nominated have earned this honor through a commitment to strong scholarship, leadership, and character.”
