RECOGNIZING THOSE WHO SERVED — For the fourth year in a row, Foxcroft Academy honored veterans with a ceremony. The 2014 program was held on Monday, Nov. 10, the day before Veterans Day.

Student Council President Nathnael Feleke ’15 was the master of ceremonies and opened the assembly by declaring, “It is because of your sacrifices that we are able to enjoy our freedom and liberty.” After the FA band played the national anthem and the student body offered the first of several standing ovations, Anna Sedlackova ’15 discussed the history of Veterans Day and introduced a video explaining the holiday in greater detail; James Smith ’16, Angelina Buzzelli ’16 and Emily Yoos ’17 read poems; and the band played “America Exultant.”
Head of School Arnold Shorey, who hosted a reception for the visiting veterans in the lobby following assembly, said, “It was an honor to host our local veterans and recognize their exemplary service on behalf of our country,” he said. “It is very important to us that our students understand the significance of Veterans Day, and they once again demonstrated that they absolutely do.”
