Piscataquis Santa Project gearing up for Christmas

Piscataquis County families in need are invited to register their children for the Piscataquis Santa Project to receive warm winter clothing (boots, jackets, ski pants, hats and mittens) and a special toy or gift at Christmas time. The Piscataquis Santa Project began in 2009 and provides clothing and toys to hundreds of children each year. Last year, 497 children were served.

Registration forms can be filled out online at  www.penquis.org by selecting the Piscataquis Santa button or in person at the Penquis office at 50 North Street in Dover-Foxcroft. Registration is open until Nov. 30. The program primarily serves families residing in the towns located within SAD 4 and RSU 68. The goal of this project is to help children stay warm by providing warm winter outerwear and a toy or gift item for children from infants to age 16.
The Piscataquis Santa Project is a collaborative effort of area Kiwanis groups, Penquis and the Parkman Grange/SAD 4 area volunteer coordinators. SAD 41 is served directly by the Three Rivers Kiwanis and Union 60 is served directly by the Moosehead Lake Area Kiwanis.
To support this project, individuals can make an online donation at www.penquis.org under the donate tab or the Piscataquis Santa button. Individuals that would like to select and shop for a child or family can see the “wish list” also located on the Penquis website.
All donations need to be received by Dec. 12, by 4:30 p.m. For more information, contact Sheree Brown at 974-2440 or sabrown@penquis.org.
