Milo Free Public Library October news
By Librarian Rochelle Williams
MILO — We had the pleasure of having the author, Joan Calder from Santa Barbara, Calif. visit us. She spoke at the Milo Garden Club and the topic was monarch butterflies. She is also a horticulturist and garden designer. She travels the U.S. to educate the public about monarch migration and the importance of preserving their habitat.
Calder donated a children’s book that she signed to the Milo Library called “Airplanes in the Garden” which was published in 2011. It tells of the monarch’s beginnings as an egg through the butterfly stage. The story is awesome. The watercolor illustrations by Cathy Quiel are beautiful. Thank you, Joan.
Our current adult fiction Special Book Display theme is “A House Full of Books”. There is a good variety of authors and subjects to choose from and you might find an author that you like that is new to you.
We continue to add many donated adult and children’s books to our library. We have a nice selection of varied interests (fiction and non-fiction). There have been many more books added to our books for sale.
