SANGERVILLE – Lila J. Cobb died October 11, 2014. She was born March 9, 1932, in Morrisville, PA, a daughter of Hiram H. and Ellen (Barker) Johnston of Lebanon, NH. She was raised in Enfield Center and Lebanon, NH. She studied music at the University of New Hampshire, Durham, and taught music in New Hampshire and Maine schools.
She and her husband, Willis E. Cobb, moved to Maine in 1969 where she taught music in her home, played organ in several churches, raised her family and wrote music.
She leaves a daughter, Willa L. Cobb; a son, Dana E. Cobb; a step-daughter, Bonnie Lee Noziska; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Lila is also survived by her partner of many years, Wilson Nuite.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and a brother, John Johnston.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, October 16, at the First Universalist Church of Dexter, with the Rev. Scott Jones officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
