Greenville has burning permits available online

GREENVILLE — The town of Greenville has now implemented an online open burn permit process which will allow any resident or property owner to obtain a permit for free without having to track down a fire warden.

The town has contracted with an online service called “Warden’s Report” which provides the online permit application and also sends an email message detailing the issued permit to any firefighter or public official who wants such notice.
This should not only prove more efficient for the public but also more effective in allowing firefighters to know who has permits for open burning.
To access this online service, go to www.wardensreport.com, select “Greenville” as the community and then complete the information fields provided. Then print out and sign the permit and keep it with you when you burn.
Failure to follow the rules outlined on the permit will result in a violation just as it would if you had a written permit from one of the town fire wardens.
If you prefer to have a hand-written permit, contact the town office or the fire warden. But this will be a more accessible option for most people.
