Gloria Marie Collins
DOVER-FOXCROFT – On Friday evening, September 12, 2014, Gloria’s prayer was answered as God tenderly put His loving arms around her and took her home to heaven and reunited her with her family who had predeceased her. Gloria Marie Collins was born in Dover-Foxcroft on October 12, 1933, the last child of Allen E. and Grace M. Collins.
Gloria grew up in Dover-Foxcroft and was a proud graduate of Foxcroft Academy, Class of 1952, the first class to graduate from the new Academy. She went on to attend Husson College, graduating with a two-year degree in secretarial science. She held a variety of jobs in the secretarial field, retiring from Fleet Bank in 1990.
Gloria was a long and devoted member of the United Methodist Church in Dover-Foxcroft and loved her Lord with her whole heart. She served Him faithfully all the days of her life and her faith and trust in His promises never wavered even at the very end. It is with confidence that she is now in His presence enjoying the blessings of His heaven.
Gloria was a member of various religious and community organizations including a life member of Almeda Chapter No. 149, O.E.S. She had a lovely singing voice and on many occasions used her voice to the glory of God in the church choir, at weddings and funerals, and when asked by friends and associates at different functions. She believed that her talent was a gift from God and deeply felt each word that she sang.
Gloria was predeceased by her loving parents; a very special aunt and uncle, Forrest and Gladys Farris; her sister and best friend, Janice; and her wonderful brothers, Rodney, Harland, Calvin, James, and Allen, Jr. She was also predeceased by a very special great-grandniece, Ella Dulac.
She is survived by her nephew, Michael Collins and his wife, Arvilla, of Thomaston; and her niece, Judith Leighton and her husband, Patrick, of Dover-Foxcroft. She is also survived by grand- nieces and nephews, and two great- grandnieces: Amy Leighton, Kristin Dulac and her children, Eliza, Adam, Alex, and Aidan, Michelle Bodman and her children, Brianna and Brandon, Kathyjo Parent and her husband, Jim, and their children, Tim and Jeff and Jeff’s children, Zoe Beth and Amber Rose, and Basil Robinson, Jr. and his wife, Arlene, and children, Felicia and Basil III.
In keeping with her wishes, a private graveside service following cremation will be held in the family plot at the Dover Cemetery, on Sunday, October 12, 2014, which would have been her 81st birthday. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at the United Methodist Church in Dover-Foxcroft at 3 p.m. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make memorial contributions to CHCS, 1093 West Main St., Dover-Foxcroft, ME 04426, Ella’s Hope Fund, Maine Highlands Federal Credit Union, P.O.
