60TH ANNIVERSARY — On Aug. 24 Bill and Lois Farr of Dover-Foxcroft celebrated their 60th anniversary with a gathering at the Dover-Foxcroft United Methodist Church. The two were married on the date exactly six decades prior in the same church.
Bill was stationed at Dow Air Force Base in Bangor after growing up in Brooklyn, N.Y. Lois was born in Dover-Foxcroft, graduated from Foxcroft Academy in 1952 and met her husband on a blind date.
They have a daughter, Vivian, who lives in Hollywood, Fla. with her husband Craig Troyer. Bill and Lois have a son, Kevin, who lives in East Dover with his wife Charlotte. They have four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. One granddaughter, Devon, came from Florida with her five-month-old son Jaxon who Bill and Lois had previously never seen.
Bill was in the U.S. Air Force for over 22 years and after retirement he and Lois moved to Dover-Foxcroft where he worked at Weatherbee’s Hardware for seven years and Lois worked at Bangor Savings Bank. They then moved to California where Bill worked for Hughes Aircraft and Lois volunteered at the Carson Sheriff Station and at Harbor General Hospital.
They lived in California for 10 years and then moved back to Dover-Foxcroft where they now reside.
