ABBOT – Reginald H. Ronco, 92, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on September 4, 2014. He was born on October 28, 1921, in Abbot, to Jesse and Charlotte (Wentworth) Ronco.
Reginald, known as Reggie by family and friends, grew up in Abbot with his four siblings, Phillip, George, Mae, and Vivian. Reginald enlisted in the Army in 1942 and was stationed in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. Upon his return to the States in 1946, he married his ‘sweetie’, Veronica Andrewski of Newark, NJ. He spent 25 years as a fireman in the Springfield, NJ Fire Department, retiring as a Captain in 1977. Upon retirement, Reggie and his wife, Ronnie, moved north to live in Sangerville, ME.
He loved the outdoors of Maine, always seeing the beauty of God’s handiwork in the lakes, rivers and mountains. He was an avid fisherman, exploring countless ponds and streams across the area. Though he enjoyed exploring, some of his favorite times were spent fishing, hunting, and relaxing at the family cabin on Moxie Pond.
Reginald was the beloved and proud patriarch of his family of three sons. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ronnie; and eldest son, David. David’s widow, Dawn, resides in Raleigh, NC, with their sons, Ben and Jesse. His middle son, Mark, lives in Kansas City, MO, with his wife, Lisa, along with their son, Josh and his wife, Allison. Mark and Lisa’s daughter, Emily, resides in Chicago. Reggie’s youngest son, Tom and his wife, Jan live in Abbot, where Reggie and Ronnie spent their final years.
His church home for years was Abbot Evangelical Free Church. Reggie’s favorite bible verse was John 10:27, and he was delighted and eager to share the gospel of Jesus with everyone he met. Though his family and friends mourn his passing, Reggie now lives in the promise that he so faithfully trusted and sought for nearly 70 years: to see his Lord face-to-face.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Reginald on October 4, 2014, at 3 p.m., in the Abbot Evangelical Free Church, Abbot, ME.
