FIZZ, BOOM, READ — Participants in the Sangerville Public Library’s Fizz, Boom, Read children’s summer reading program included, from left, Destiny Dever, Shyann Dever, Kyndra Bogdanski, Elora Bogdanski, Molly Burton, Zachary McInnis, Quentin Polley and Zoe McInnis.

On Aug. 1 a party was held for the children to mark the end of the program with prizes and ice cream cones to recognize their accomplishments.
Eighteen children read a total of 284 books. Ages 3-6 read books for prizes while ages 7-13 read books for the chance to win, through a drawing, one of two bicycles and helmets. Winners of the bicycle drawing held at the party were Destiny Dever and Meriel Willey.
Some of the books most enjoyed at this summer event were “The Spirit Animals”, “The Royal Diaries”, The Tarantuala Scientist” and “The Magic School Bus Adventures”.
Next summer’s reading program aimed at ages 8-14 will be Reach for the Creech Book and Read. Books by world-renowned children’s author and Newbery Medal Award winner Sharon Creech will be read. The culminating activity for that program will be a live interview with Creech and autographed books to take home.
