Arlene M. (Huff) Farrar

FARRAR, Arlene M. (Huff), 93, Dover-Foxcroft, August 15, 2014. A graveside memorial service will be conducted 11 a.m., Saturday, August 23, at the family lot in Sebec Corner Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft.

Arlene M. (Huff) Farrar

    DOVER-FOXCROFT – Arlene M. (Huff) Farrar, 93, passed away August 15, 2014, at Hibbard Nursing Home, Dover-Foxcroft. She was born July 20, 1921, in Abbot, the daughter of Albert and Mattie (French) Huff.
    Arlene grew up in Milo on a farm located on the Pleasant River; later, the family moved to Sebec and farmed there. She attended the “old” Foxcroft Academy, then located by the Congregational Church. During high school, she worked at the Tea Room at Sebec Lake and later at Roy’s Diner in Dover-Foxcroft. After her children were grown, she worked for many years at Judkins Shop & Save.
    She married Horace Farrar in 1943, later moving to the farm of her parents in Sebec.
    She is survived by a daughter, Avis Canders of Dover-Foxcroft, and her children: Todd Merrill and his wife, Amanda, of Ogdensberg, NY, Toby Merrill of Dover-Foxcroft, Tracey Arno and her husband, Peter, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Tammy Campbell and her husband, Robert, of Glenburn; a son, Bruce A. Farrar of Dover-Foxcroft, and his children: Julie Oullette and her husband, Michael, of Portland, and David Farrar of Bangor. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
    She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Horace Farrar; two brothers, Clyde Huff and Alfred Huff; and a son, Gary Wayne Farrar.
    Arlene’s family would like to thank all the staff at Hibbard Nursing Home, and in particular, those who work on the Annex, for the wonderful care provided to Arlene. Even though she could not be at home, you all made her feel like she was part of your family. Also, thank you to Community Health and Counseling Service/Pine Tree Hospice for helping to make Arlene’s last few days on this earth peaceful and pain free.
    In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Arlene’s memory be made to CHCS/Pine Tree Hospice, 1093 W. Main St., Dover-Foxcroft 04426 or to Hibbard Nursing Home, Activity Fund, 1037 W. Main St., Dover-Foxcroft 04426.
