Three Rivers Hamfest on Saturday
MILO — The Piscataquis Amateur Radio Club will hold its annual Three Rivers Hamfest on Saturday, Aug. 9 from 8 a.m. to noon at American Legion Post 41, 18 West Main Street.
This year the Three Rivers Hamfest will include FCC amateur radio exams at 9 am. A meeting of all Amateur Radio Emergency Service members headed up by the State of Maine, ARRL Emergency Coordinator Phil Duggan, N1EP is at 10:30 a.m.
The event will include Kits ‘N Pieces which is a vendor that specializes in amateur radio supplies.
The newly refurbished Piscataquis County Emergency Management Agency Mobile Communications Command Post vehicle will be on display, as will a state of the art portable communications center display with a number of innovative capabilities.
A free tailgating parking area will be open for those looking to buy, sell or trade amateur radio and other equipment. The Three Rivers Hamfest will also have a “fox hunt” where radio operators try to find a hidden transmitter somewhere in the area of the festival.
The American Legion Unit 41 Auxiliary will sell concessions, and those attending can enter to win a grand prize worth over $100 and number of subsidiary prizes too.
